Our Story

Parksville BC Canada

Popcorn Revolution is an exciting new gourmet popcorn company based in Parksville, BC, started by a young man with Autism who was struggling to maintain gainful employment. Inspired by a family tradition of Sunday night popcorn and a love for adventurous flavors, Popcorn Revolution was born to bring tasty plant-based snacks that you can share, gift, and send to people you love most.

There was an A-ha moment at Christmas one year when caramel popcorn was made for gifts and received glowing accolades with many people asking for more. Who doesn’t love popcorn? It is a delicious and sometimes nutritious snack that can be enjoyed anytime of the year for people of any age.

Popcorn Revolution strives to deliver high quality, delicious, unique flavored air popped gourmet popcorn in a variety of flavors. All ingredients will be certified gluten free, artificial color free, and preservative free while using Non-GMO corn.

Popcorn Revolution is a local small business that will have its humble beginnings alongside the Nanaimo Nightowl’s Baseball team opening season. Occasionally you will find us in the community at popular locations such as farmers markets, live events, and fairs and you can always order online. As the brand grows locally, we plan to test market selling our products in local stores and expand an online store front to have greater reach.

Creating meaningful and lasting employment is an important outcome of Popcorn Revolution so a portion of the profits will be donated to programs that support employment for adults with Autism (Specifically the Pacific Autism Family Network). As the business grows, expansion of employees will focus on the hiring of other adults with Autism while providing customers with products that they want at an affordable price. Popcorn Revolution intends to build something meaningful that serves our deepest purpose.

The belief is with multiple flavors there is something for everyone’s taste buds no matter their age. The hope is there will be a ground swell of support not only for the gourmet flavors but for the opportunities created for those living on the Autism Spectrum. Using social media, word of mouth and local business contacts a loyal following will be created.

Kai Stilwell, a 21-year-old who was valedictorian of his graduating class, is taking his love of people, his boundless energy, and an “a-ha moment” when gifted caramel popcorn at Christmas and mixing them into this new venture, which was supported by the brand new Nanaimo Night Owl’s baseball team. Since launching he has had great success and has expanded to weddings, events and fundraising with schools and sports teams.
